St. Gabriel Consolidated School serves the parishioners of St. Gabriel,
St. John-West Chester, St. Martin dePorres, St. Matthias, and
St. Maximilian Kolbe. Our first priority is to educate students from these parishes as space permits.
Families of registered students must be active members of their respective parishes and approved by the pastors.
Class space will be allocated as follows:
1. Present students approved by pastors and/or principal with registration forms returned by February
19th, and all tuition and fees current. Registrations not returned by February
19th, Item #3 will apply. For
non-parish students, tuition and fees must be paid in full by April 30.
2. Siblings of present students K-8, who are members of the five (5) parishes, or Kindergarten siblings of present non-parish students.
3. In grades K-8 new entrants from the five (5) parishes approved by pastors, if there is space, by lottery, February
19th.
4. Siblings of present non-parish students 1-8 provided the class is not filled – after March
1st.
5. Non-parish students can register, if there is space, in K-8 beginning March
1st. Non-parish students in grades 4-8 must provide a letter of recommendation and be interviewed by the Principal before registration is complete.
6. Special needs situations are subject to review by the administration. An IEP or service plan must be provided at the time of the interview.
7. New students are not accepted after the 1st quarter of school, unless they are new parish members, just moving into one of the five (5) parishes from outside parish boundaries, and if there is space. Exceptions to this rule will be viewed and determined by the building principal.
---Revised June, 2005
8. The waiting list of St. Gabriel Consolidated School ceases on the last day of January. It begins anew on February
16th of the current year.
|
| What is the maximum class size? |
|
To maintain an educational program of the highest possible quality and to meet
the student needs to the fullest extent possible,
the following policy has been established:
The maximum enrollment of students in any class is 25.
|
| How does the school communicate with parents? |
|
Conferences:
Parent-Teacher Conferences are held in November,
following the first grading period.
Day and evening hours are available for
scheduling a time with the teacher.
Directory:
Each family, upon joining the PTO, receives a
directory. It includes class lists, school year calendar, contact
information and an alphabetical listing of all
families enrolled at SGCS (address, phone number and
e-mail address, if applicable).
Kindergarten Parent Orientation:
This meeting is held during our Meet the Teacher Day
in August and allows the parents of kindergartners
to meet their child’s teacher and learn more about
the kindergarten curriculum. Classroom volunteer opportunities are usually
offered at this meeting.
Meet the Teacher:
An orientation for all families is held in August.
This gives the students and parents an opportunity
to meet their teachers for the upcoming year as well
as join PTO and scouts and purchase spiritwear.
New Parent Orientation:
An orientation for parents new to the school is held
in August, prior to the start of school. New parents can enjoy hospitality provided by
the PTO and hear an overview of SGCS curriculum and activities.
Newsletters:
SGCS PTO publishes a monthly newsletter called
"Pawprints" with news of interest, dates
for special events, student accomplishments, and a
message from the Principal.
Parent/Student Handbook:
The Parent/Student Handbook is distributed to all
school families during the early weeks of school.
It contains the policies and procedures of the
school and is a very valuable source of information.
view the Handbook.
Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO): The
PTO Board includes the positions of President, Vice
President, Secretary and Treasurer. You may
contact board members with your questions and
concerns by sending a note addressed to the board to
school or by sending an email to .
Open House:
Our Open House is held in late January during
Catholic Schools Week.
Online
Gradebook Access:
Parents with students in grades 4-8 may view their
child's grades online.
Telephone Message System:
SGCS utilizes the services of two companies to help
us get messages to all families in a quick fashion
in case of emergencies, snow delays or simply just a
reminder of an early dismissal. These systems
give us the ability to create a voice message for
all families or a specific group of families who
need to receive a specific message. This
message may be sent to your home phone, cell phone
and work phone.
Thursday
Envelope:
A weekly packet of information for school families
is sent home the every Thursday, usually with the
youngest child in the family. The envelope is
signed by a parent and returned the next day.
Inside the envelope will be school newsletters,
notices, papers that need to be completed and
returned, etc.
Snow Days:
If the decision is made to close before the school
day begins, the principal will contact the
media. We do not follow a specific
school district's procedures. Please look for
an announcement that St. Gabriel Consolidated School
is closed or delayed. You may also receive a
phone call via our emergency phone service.
Voicemail:
Each teacher and administrator has individual
voicemail available. This service
provides parents with the best means to contact
teachers with questions or concerns about their
child.

| Which parishes does SGCS serve? |
|
St. Gabriel is a consolidated school which serves the following parishes:
St. Gabriel Consolidated School welcomes students from outside these
parishes when enrollment allows!
|
| What organizations and volunteer opportunities are available to parents? |
|
|
| What is the registration
and tuition policy? |
|
1. Families of current and parish affiliated students will begin the registration process on January
18th and finish by February 13th. All other families
will begin registration on March 2nd. All registrations will be handled through the school office and will be on-going until classes are full. A $100 registration fee is required per family. This fee is non-refundable and does not go toward parishioner tuition rate.
2. All parish families eligible for parish related tuition will be given information about Private School Aide Service. Each family seeking a parish subsidy will make application through PSAS. Each parish will determine the amount of subsidy based upon the information obtained from PSAS and the monies each parish has available for this purpose. A fee of
$21 paid directly to PSAS will be assessed.
3. All tuition will be collected through Tuition Management Systems. Families will have the option of a ten-month payment plan beginning on July 1st and ending on April 1st. Families may also choose to pay quarterly or semi-annually. (Tuition may also be paid in its entirety by
June 30 directly to the school with no fee assessed by Tuition Management Systems). Tuition Management Systems will permit payment by check or electronic transfer. There is a fee of $42.00 for this service if paid monthly; $35, quarterly; and $20, semi-annually. These fees are paid directly to the company.
4. Any student who attends any part of the school quarter and withdraws will be charged for the quarter in which the withdrawal takes place.
5. A list of registered students by parish will be sent to each parish by March
1st to determine family eligibility for parish status. Each parish must verify this list by March
12th. Additions and deletions to this list will be sent by the school to the parish office as they occur. Parishes will notify the school if movement occurs from the parish as it happens.
6. Financial adjustments (subsidies from parish to school) will be made on a quarterly basis based on the fiscal quarters ending in
September, December, March and June.
7. The Tuition Management System will keep the school aware of late or non-payment of tuition. Circumstances may arise within a family where tuition payments are delayed.
Families need to communicate these circumstances to the principal prior to payment due date.
On the third non-payment of tuition, the family will be referred to the school finance committee by the principal or his/her designee.
A recommendation by the school finance committee to the principal will be made regarding the continued attendance by the family. The principal will have the final determination.
8. Kindergarten Tuition will be $100.00 more than tuition for grades 1-8.
9. Tuition for the following school year should be established no later than the January Advisory meeting.
