Accelerated Reader (AR) is a software program used to monitor and improve independent reading and comprehension of all readers at St. Gabriel, which includes all students in grades 2 though 8 and the readers in first grade. St. Gabriel owns the AR quizzes for over 5500 books, which titles are organized by title and author in the lists above. After reading one of the book titles in the lists above, students take a short quiz on the computer which immediately tells them how many AR points they have earned. The number of points awarded are based on the number of questions answered correctly, the reading level of the book and the length of the book. The AR reports help the teacher monitor reading level and comprehension.
