SGCS Athletic Booster Board
March 12, 2007
|
Attendance: Rich C., Mike L.,
Tony L., Rich K., Kathy U., Joe E., Kim B.
The meeting was opened with a prayer at 7:30 PM.
-
Secretary’s Report: The secretary's report of
the meeting minutes for January 29 are posted on the school
website.
-
Treasurer’s Report:
There is $4040.80 in the bank
at this time. Outstanding gym time bills amount to $2150. Gym
expenditures are up from previous years. Thirty percent of our
budget is for gym space. We also have paid $8000 for new
uniforms in the past two years. We should be receiving $1500
from PTO in the next month or two.
-
Fundraisers:
-
We made $400 at the bake sale at St. Max fish Fry. Thank you to
those who organized, worked and supplied the baked goods.
-
Spiritwear was sold at boys’ basketball games and open house. We still
have an inventory to sell. Angie E. will be selling spiritwear
at the Race For Education and FunFest.
-
Flower Sale- We should clear $900 from the flower sale. This down a
little from last year but the weather affected the sales.
-
Boys Basketball Wrap Up: The 6th grade team won the city
championship. The 7th grade team made it to the final
four in the city tournament. Equipment and uniforms are to be
turned in.
-
Girls Volleyball Wrap Up: Ann E.’s 4th grade girls won their city
tournament. We had three league championships, both 6th
grade teams and the 5th grade team. Uniforms and
equipment are being collected.
-
Baseball: We have a 4th grade and a 5th grade team
this year. The 6th grade did not have enough girls
register to field a softball team this year. The dirt needs to be
spread on the field and necessary uniforms have been ordered.
-
Banquet Planning: The committee presented the board with an update on
banquet plans. The food will remain similar to last year. The
registration will be worked differently with meal tickets being
given to each family who RSVP. Kathy C. and Connie M. are
co-chairing the event with Amy Z. handling reservations and Teri
D. the awards. They are working on securing a DJ.
-
Upcoming Elections: Most nominees have been contacted either personally
or been left a message. We are waiting to hear back from several
people. Rich C will put together the ballot after he receives a
short bio on those who agree to run. We hope to have the ballots
to the families by the end of March.
-
Volunteers Needed for the next year
- Gym Coordinator
- Boys Basketball Coordinator
- Uniform/Equipment Coordinator - Tony L. volunteered to take this on next year.
- Girls Volleyball Coordinator Marianne L. is interested in this position
-
Old Business:
- We need input from George’s meeting with his contact at Mercy about
the status of St. Francis for next year as we need to evaluate gym
spaces. It was mentioned that we should pursue Glendale Elementary
or other possible Princeton City Schools. We should check out Lakota
elementary schools also.
- Brenda T. and Wendy W., the girls basketball coordinators need to be
contacted to begin working on the A/B tryouts that will be needed
for the upcoming 6th grade.
- New Business:
-
Kim B. asked the board to clarify the section of the handbook which
discusses late registration. It does not say in the handbook under
what circumstances the board will accept late registrations.
- There was also some discussion about citing examples of unsportsmanlike
conduct in the handbook. It was decided that is was sufficient as it
is.
- Joe mentioned that at present the school pays $15 for each person who is
fingerprinted for the archdiocese. It is possible that this policy
will change in the future.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM
